How do I use the Address Book to create Nickname shortcuts for commonly used email addresses? How do I create my own personal mailing list using Nicknames?
- To open the Address Book window, select the Tools -> Address Book menu item (or press CTRL + L)
- Click on New
- Type the Nickname you wish to use for this entry (ie: John), select the 'Put it on the recipient list' option and then click on OK
- Type the actual email address of the recipient into the Address(es) field (ie: smithj@datacruz.com)
- You can associate more than one email address with a Nickname by typing in each additional address on a seperate line. This allows you to create a mailing list by simply sending the message to the Nickname, rather than to each individual email address.
- Close the Address Book window and click on Yes when prompted to save changes

How do I use the Recipient List functions?
- Once you have created Address Book entries (and have chosen the 'Put it on the recipient list' option for all of them), a list of these Nicknames will now appear in several of the menus within Eudora
- Select the Message -> New Message To -> "Nickname" menu item to create a new message automatically destined to that person. From this point you can finish the new message as you normally would and then click on Send to deliver it.
NOTES: The Message -> Forward To and Message -> Redirect To menu items also work in the same fashion. These features simply save you the time it would take to manually type the destination email addresses into the To: field.

How do I use the Filters tool to automatically sort my incoming and outgoing email messages?
- To open the Filters window, select the Tools -> Filters menu item
- In the Match section, click on New
- Select the type of mail you wish to Filter, whether it be Incoming or Outgoing messages (ie: Incoming)
- Select the desired Header which will become the Filtering criteria (ie: From:)
- Select the desired Filtering condition (ie: Contains)
- Type the text that you wish to trigger the Filter (ie: unwanted@email.com)
- In the Action section, select the Filter action you wish to use (ie: Transfer To)
- Select the Mailbox, Nickname (or other object) you wish to send the Filtered messages to (ie: Trash)
- Close the Filters window and click on Yes when prompted to save changes
NOTES: The above Filter example scans all Incoming messages for the address 'unwanted@email.com' in the From: field, then automatically sends any to the Trash mailbox. This is a good example of how to avoid incoming email messages from a particular address.
You can also type a pre-defined Nickname (which can consist of several email addresses) in place of the 'unwanted@email.com' address, creating the possibility to Filter messages from several addresses without having to create individual Filters for each one.

How do I quickly search through my messages for information?
- Open the Mailbox or Message you wish to search through
- Select the Edit -> Find -> Find menu item (or press CTRL + F)
- Type the string of text you wish to search for then click on Find
NOTES: You can click on the Next button to find the next instance of your search string. Clicking on Next Message skips to the beginning of the next message and continues searching. Clicking on Next Mailbox skips to the beginning of the next Mailbox and continues searching.
Selecting the Match Case option will ignore any instances that do not match the exact capitalization of your search string.
The Summaries Only option will only search the From: and Subject: headers of each message. This is much faster than searching through the entire message contents, but will most likely find less matches.
