Before you upload your files to the web server, you should probably also make a "local copy" of the file (i.e. save a copy of the file to your computer) so you can edit it later. The following instructions will save a copy of the file on your computer AND upload the file to your website.
Create or open a page in FrontPage Express
- Select "Save" from the File menu
- Click "As File..."
- Under "Page Title", enter the name of the page
- Select a name for the file (don't use spaces; using only lowercase letters will also make things easier) and save the file somewhere on your drive (you should save all of your website files to the same directory; this makes things a LOT easier)
- Select "Save As" from the File menu
- Now enter the following under "Page Location" (be sure to replace "filename.htm" with the same name you used when you saved the file on your computer):
http://www.datacruz.com/filename.htm
- Click OK
- Enter your web account username and password, then click OK.
- The Web Publishing Wizard will launch. Click Next twice until you see a window that says "Select Your Connection Method". Select "FTP", then click Next
- Enter the following information, then click Next
- FTP server name: web.datacruz.com
- Subfolder containing your web pages: [leave this blank]
- URL for your Web server and directory: [this should be greyed out]
- Click Finish to upload the page
